Maywood Buzz Sign former Banning High School Star Sharpshooter Joey Saavedra

Maywood, CA - Buzz General Manager Burrel Lee III announced today that the team has signed 6'3 Guard Wilmington, California native Joey Saavedra, from Habor City College. Joey who was in 2002 was up for California High School Player of the year and the list included NBA Pros Marcus Williams & Hassan Adams (NJ Nets), Mike Strawberry and Ekene Ibekwe (Phoenix Suns), Bobby Jones (Philadelphia Sixers), Leon Powe (Boston Celtics) Trevor Ariza (Los Angeles Lakers) and Steve Smith (NY Giants - NFL). Saavedra who torched the nets at Banning High School in Wilmington, CA for an average of 36ppg.

"I have talked to many coaches in the CIF City section and they said this kid should have been up there with the rest of his class in Division 1 college and off to the NBA" says Lee. "Joey who had a little trouble in his past is up and ready for the task of helping the Buzz compete for an ABA Title and as well as show that he does belong ont he stage with those from his class" added Lee

"I am very excited that Burrel and the Buzz has given me this chance to step on the court and compete at a high level. I will do everything possible to help the Buzz win both on and off the court" says Saavedra.
