Maywood Buzz News Release

Maywood, California - The Maywood Buzz opened their 2007-2007 ABA season November 9th in San Francisco vs. the Rumble with a 106-108 lost. "We lost a tough game on Friday" stated Buzz GM/Head Coach Burrel Lee III. "We knew going in the game, it was the Rumble's first game as well as their home opener, so we just knew they will be playing on a high" added Lee. They did just that, jumping on the Buzz by as much as 35pts in the first 24 minutes.

"I took my team into the locker room at halftime and told them, the Rumble players and fans were excited and now these last 24 minutes lets come out and play Buzz basketball" said Lee.

And the Buzz did just that, coming within 8pts after the 3rd period, only to see the Rumble go up again by 16pts with a little under 4 minutes to play in the game.

The Buzz players never let down and played hard and pressed harder. With the score 105-107 with 6.1 seconds on the clock, Buzz Guard Darwin Carter (6'1 - Middle Tennessee State), went to the line and made the first and missed the second. The Buzz was forced to foul and the Rumble made 1-2 free throws with 3.1 on the clock and the Buzz just ran out of time.

"Coach put the ball in my hands with the game on the line and I just flat out missed a free throw. Not only am I a vet, but the Buzz Captain and I totally take the lost, because my teammates, never quit and we played hard until the last horn. We will get to see them again and the out come will be different" stated Carter.

The Buzz will next play Friday, November 23rd, 2007 at 7:30pm vs the San Diego Wildcats in the Buzz Home Opener where all tickets are $5.00 per person.
