Bloomington Thunder News Release
Bloomington, IL - Mayor Tari Renner has personally put his stamp of approval on the Bloomington Thunder hockey team. On Tuesday, July 8th, the Bloomington Mayor entered the Thunder office inside the US Cellular Coliseum and purchased his season tickets for the upcoming season.
Mayor Renner, who took office just over a year ago, will join the Thunder's inaugural season in the USHL with great anticipation. "This is just an exciting day for the Coliseum, the sporting community, downtown, our city, and its economic development," said Mayor Renner. "I'm very proud to have this team here and so should every citizen of Bloomington."
Thunder General Manager Kurt Silcott and the rest of the organization are excited to have Renner in the stands this season and hope that his approval shows the city that the Thunder are here to stay. "We are pleased to have him on board as a season ticket holder. It shows the great support that we have from the city and that the mayor is also backing the community's team," said Silcott.
"For him to personally come out and get season tickets with us shows that he is an active leader in the community. He's willing to go out on the streets to participate in the community rather than sit back and lead from a far. We are excited that we will see him at the Coliseum for numerous games this season."
Renner is looking forward to not only the Thunder's success in this season, but for many years to come. "The fact that we have stability of ownership along with a very exciting sport that lots people can come to excites me the most. Not to mention they can get very affordable season tickets also."
For tickets or other information, please contact the Thunder office by calling (309) 434-2980, or visit us inside the US Cellular Coliseum.
