
Mavericks Win on Road at North Dallas

In a hotly contested game from start to finish the Mavericks improved their road record this season to 5-1.
SETX came out hot early with perimeter bombs from Currye Todd, who started in place of injured Josh Pace. Todd hit two 3's in the early going to give the Mavs the early lead. North Dallas battled back with Jonathon Walker taking center stage. Walker leveled the score at 15 with a basket at the seven minute mark. From there the Mavericks gained control led by rookie point guard Hollis Giles. The Mavs led 31-19 after one period of play.
In the second quarter Walker continued his onslaught from both the inside and outside on the Mavericks. Devon Pearson also got into the mix with key baskets and rebounds. But the Mavericks bench came up big and the SETX took at 57-40 half-time lead into the locker-room.
The Vandals came out of the locker-room at half-time blazing and cut a 21 point Mavericks lead to just 6 with two minutes to go in the 3rd period. Walker and Pearson led the way for North Dallas as they trailed only 79-75 after three periods of play.
The 4th quarter belonged totally to the Mavericks as Desmond Cambridge and Myles Thrash hit key baskets! Jon Rogers and Lamar Sanders controlled the paint as the Mavs opened the game up and regained it twenty point lead. SETX finished strong and went on to gain the road win 122-98.
SETX was led in scoring by Cambridge with 31 points. Thrash added 24 points and Odell Bradley chipped in 22 points. Walker scored a game high 41 points for North Dallas. Pearson followed up with 25 points and a game high 12 rebounds.
The SETX Mavericks will host the Texas Rimrockers on Saturday night, January 8th at Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Center in Winnie, TX. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM.
