Mavericks Release Jermaine Blackburn
December 31, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release
The Southeast Texas Mavericks earlier this week released Guard/Forward Jermaine Blackburn.
Blackburn helped lead the Mavericks to the 2010 ABA National Championship and was a First Team All-ABA player.
"First of all we want to thank Jermaine for his contributions to our team and organization. With that said, it is in the best interest of this year's team and our entire organization that we part ways. We wish Jermaine the best of luck in the future." States SETX Mavericks General Manager/Head Coach Steve Tucker.
With the departure of Blackburn, the Mavericks filled the open roster spot with Houston, TX native and former Georgetown College (KY) point guard Hollis Giles.
Giles was a first team NAIA All-American last season while averaging 17.4 ppg and 8.1 assist. Giles was an All-State High School player at Yates High School in Houston.
