PORTSMOUTH- The Seacoast Mavericks were defeated by the Brockton Rox Friday evening at Leary Field.
Winning pitcher, Patrick Delano (Vanderbilt University) pitched into the seventh inning of a shortened seven inning game. Delano yielded four earned runs off of nine hits. He struck out two and did not give up a walk. Sal Minichino (Concordia College) recorded the save, striking out two in one inning of work.
Greg Baggett (Bentley University) swung a hot bat Friday evening, going 3-4 on the evening with four RBIs and two runs scored. Baggett hit two homeruns in the top of the first and seventh inning. Tanner Reibenspies (San Diego State University) went 1-4 on the evening with a homerun of his own. He had 2 RBIs on the evening.
D.J. Colbert (Worcester State) struggled to find a groove in his Mavericks debut, giving up six earned runs off of five hits. He walked four and struck out two in the process. Kevin Mayone (Assumption College) pitched admirably in his four innings of relief. Mayone gave up only one run off of two hits. He struck out one and rendered no walks.
Highlights of the Mavericks offense saw Scott Dejong (UConn) go 2-4 on the evening with a run scored. Spencer Marentette (Oakland University) went 2-3 on the evening with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
