
Mavericks Come from Behind to Defeat Blaze

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, could not sustain a first-period lead and lost 3-1 to the Missouri Mavericks on Thursday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Blaze took the first lead when Dan Barczuk raced in on the right wing and scored his first Bloomington goal assisted by Ryan Palmer and Tysen Dowzak for the only first period scoring with 7:29 remaining.
The Mavericks evened the score with 13:43 remaining in the second period on an Andrew Courtney wrister from the slot on a pass from Ryan Jardine and Sebastien Thinel. Missouri gained a 2-1 advantage with 7:04 left in the middle chapter on a blast near the right post by Evan Vossen after a perfect feed from Thinel.
Missouri increased the lead to 3-1 with a one-time drive from the right circle by Ryan Jardine, assisted by Thinel and David Simoes with 16:33 remaining in the third period. The Blaze emptied their net for an extra attacker for most of the final two minutes but could not convert.
Dan Dunn took the loss in goal with 25 saves while Mike Clemente earned the victory with 30 saves.
The Blaze take Friday off before a Saturday night game at Tulsa. The Blaze then return home on Wednesday for a 10 a.m. face-off against the Quad City Mallards on a special Kids' Day game which will also serve as the Blaze Holiday Open House.
