Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks and Warriors' Ascent have joined forces to present "Military Appreciation Weekend" this weekend at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The Mavericks host games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and each will feature elements designed to honor the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

"We are so excited to be working with Warriors' Ascent to host 'Military Appreciation Weekend'," said Mavericks general manager Brent Thiessen. "Warriors' Ascent is a true leader and innovator in the area of providing healing and support to service men and women who return home from combat. We want to raise awareness and funds for the services they offer while also showing our deep appreciation for those who sacrifice to protect our freedom."

"We are thrilled to develop this partnership with the Missouri Mavericks to generate awareness of veteran health issues, especially veteran suicide, and to raise funds for the programs to aid in the healing of veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress," said Warriors' Ascent executive director Mike Kenny.

In honor of "Military Appreciation Weekend" the Mavericks, for the first time ever, will wear specialty jerseys for back-to-back games. Their red, white and blue-themed military appreciation jerseys will be worn for their games on Friday and Saturday against the Allen Americans. A live postgame jersey auction will follow Saturday's game and fans will have the chance to bid on, and win, their favorite player's jersey. The postgame auction is the only place these one-of-a-kind items can be purchased.

In addition to the jersey auction, Warriors' Ascent will be the Community Organization of the Night on Friday, March 3. Members of the organization will be selling Chuck-A-Pucks to the fans in attendance and proceeds from the sales will go back to Warriors' Ascent. The grand prize for Chuck-A-Puck on Friday will be $2,000.

There will also be an online auction through the website qtego.com that will raise funds for Warriors' Ascent. The items up for bid will be four Owner's Suite tickets to a future Mavericks game, two Founders' Suite tickets to a future Kansas City Chiefs game and a luxury watch by Niall. The bidding opens on Tuesday, February 28 and runs through Sunday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m.

Fans who want to purchase tickets to "Military Appreciation Weekend" are encouraged to do so through a special the Mavericks are offering. Rinkside seats to the games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday can be purchased for a discounted price with $5 going back to Warriors' Ascent. The number to call to order is 816-252-7825.
