Maulers Set Roster for Playoffs

June 23, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Montgomery Bears News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery Maulers have set their roster for the remainder of the season. The Maulers have one regular season game left and then a week off to prepare for the playoffs, which begin July 8.

The National Indoor Football League requires teams to freeze the roster two weeks before playoffs begin. Teams are allowed a 30-man roster when the rosters are frozen instead of a 25-man roster. This allows teams to have reserve players in case of injuries.

The Maulers have added four new players to the roster. Scott Pepperman is a kicker who played for the Beaumont Drillers, another NIFL team. Alandus Wilkerson a rookie offensive lineman who played at Alabama State.

The two additional players added to the roster are twins. Jim and Tim Parham are twins who are defensive linemen. The brothers played at Alabama State and this is their first season playing in the NIFL.

"I can't tell Jim and Tim apart. At practice, if I'm talking to one of them I just say ‘Parham over here'," head coach James Shiver said.

The Maulers also have another "Average Joe" player on the roster for this Saturday's game against the Lubbock Gunslingers. Cedrick Williams has been selected to dress out, sit on the bench and possibly get in the game for a couple of plays on Saturday. Williams is the President and Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Alabama.

"Cedrick has done well at practice this week and has been very excited. I expect to get him in for at least one play on Saturday," Shiver said.

The Maulers will have "Fan Appreciation Night" as they host the Lubbock Gunslingers on Saturday night at Garrett Coliseum with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, please contact the Maulers office at (334) 277-1881.
