Montgomery Bears News Release

(MONTGOMERY, AL) The Montgomery Maulers and FOX 20 WCOV are gearing up for the Maulers final home game of the 2006 season, this Monday night at 7:00 PM at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery vs. the SandSharks of Charleston, SC.

Monday night's game is sponsored by FOX 20 WCOV, Reinhardt Toyota of Montgomery and Bama Country 98.9. The first 500 fans will receive a FREE Montgomery Maulers/FOX WCOV 20 t-shirt and during halftime, one lucky fan will have the chance drive away in a new 2006 Toyota Tundra Truck, courtesy of Reinhardt Toyota. Fans will also have the chance to meet Bama Country's own Lance Houston and the opportunity to register to win Official Montgomery Maulers merchandise. Gates open at 6:00 PM. Special pre-game and halftime entertainment will be provided by the Montgomery Mauler Red Hots, Mini-Maulers and Sidney Lanier High School's Marching Drumline.

This Monday at the Garrett Coliseum, the Maulers will look to finish out their home schedule at a perfect 4-0, since coming under new ownership on May 3.

Montgomery is coming off an exciting 57-56 come-from-behind win this past weekend, when they defeated the Outlaws of Osceola. The win over Osceola has kept the Maulers in the play-off hunt. The Maulers (4-6) are currently ranked seventh in the Atlantic Conference of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL). The NIFL announced Wednesday that only six teams from each conference will advance to play-offs this season. In previous years, eight teams were taken from both the Atlantic and Pacific Conference. This Monday's opponent the Charleston SandSharks and Montgomery are close contenders for the final play-off slot in the Atlantic Conference. The Sandsharks currently have a one-game lead over the Maulers.

The SandSharks (5-4) are coming off a 53-28 win over the Arkansas Stars last weekend. This weekend's match-up is the first of two scheduled meetings this season. The secnd meeting of the two franchises will be on July 1, when the Maulers travel to the North Charleston Coliseum for their final game of the season.

Mauler players to watch this Monday: Running back Charlie Rollins ( Alabama State University), wide receiver Silas Daniels ( Auburn University) and linebacker Jonathan Harrell ( Northern Iowa). Rollins led the Mauler offensive front scoring three touchdowns and averaging just under five yards per carry in last Saturday's win. Daniels averaged 13 yards per reception in the win over Osceola and scored two touchdowns, including the game winning score with 1:11 remaining in the game. Harrell captained the Mauler defensive in Saturday's win, collecting seven solo tackles, including a quarterback sack for a loss of eight yards.

All tickets to Monday's game are just $10.00 and can be purchased at the Montgomery Maulers headquarters at Eastdale Mall, at the Main Administrative Office at the Garrett Coliseum or online at Tickertmaster.com.
