Matt Mahoney Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and the USL Championship officially announced today that Matt Mahoney has been named to the Team of the Week for Week 29 of the 2022 season, presented by Konami eFootball.

Matt Mahoney had two great defensive games against San Antonio FC and Oakland Roots last week, winning 7 of 11 duels and holding a passing accuracy of 73% off of 40 total passes on Tuesday night against San Antonio. He also won 6 out of 10 aerial duels. The second match in the week was strong for Mahoney as well, winning six of nine duels and holding an impressive 77% passing accuracy in Saturday night's content.

The Switchbacks have had a player on the team or on the bench for Team of the Week for 12 of the 29 weeks completed so far in the 2022 campaign.

The Switchbacks are now 16-12-4 in the league, sitting at the no.3 slot in the Western Conference. They have not been lower than No. 4 in the Western Conference since week 2. The Switchbacks have two more matches this season, both away before heading into playoffs. They must remain in the top 4 in order to clinch a home playoff spot.
