Matt Burstein named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Year

NAPLES, Fla. - Cape Fear offensive specialist MATT BURSTEIN (5-8, 180, Arkansas) has been named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Year by af2 head coaches and members of the media.
The former Razorback finished the season with 119 catches for 1,648 yards (league high) and 43 touchdowns (league high). He also returned 52 kickoffs for 1,013 yards and two touchdowns. His 45 total touchdowns led the league and also gave him the league lead in scoring with 270 points.
His numbers were good enough to set single season team records for receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, kickoff return yards, and points for the Wildcats. Burstein's knack for finding the endzone was a big reason the Wildcats featured an offense ranked fourth in the af2, averaging 53.0 points per game. This offense helped spark the Wildcats to win nine of their final ten games and finish the season 12-4 after starting the season 3-3.
In eight of Cape Fear's regular season games Burstein was named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game. In Week 3 he was named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Columbus. In the game he recorded 13 catches for 178 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned seven kickoffs for 195 yards, including a 56-yard return for a touchdown.
Burstein, in his fourth season in af2, has 301 receptions for 3,479 yards and 78 touchdowns in his career.
Last week for the first time in his career Burstein was named to the American Conference all-af2 First team at offensive specialist.
