Utah Royals FC News Release

SANDY, Utah - Utah Royals FC returns home after a hard-fought road match to face Reign FC at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday, June 28 at 8:00p MT for the club's second annual Pride match. The match will mark the first time the two clubs have faced since Reign FC relocated to Tacoma ahead of the 2019 National Women's Soccer League season.

DF Kelley O'Hara (USA), FW Christen Press (USA) and DF Becky Sauerbrunn (USA) will once again be absent from the match as they participate in the quarterfinal match of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. The trio's match against France kicks off Friday, June 28 at 1:00 p.m. MT, just seven hours before Royals FC begin. DF Rachel Corsie (SCO), DF Katie Bowen (NZL) and MF Desiree Scott (CAN) will also be absent as they have recently concluded their time in France with their respective national teams.

In its last match, Utah Royals FC drew 0-0 with Portland Thorns FC, marking the first time the club earned a point at Providence Park. Royals FC also became the first team to hold the Thorns scoreless on their home field since 2016. FW Mallory Weber earned three shots on goal against her former team while GK Nicole Barnhart and DF Sam Johnson made several crucial defensive stops to preserve the scoreline.

URFC enters Friday's match with a 0-2-1 (1 point) all-time record against Reign FC. Most recently Royals FC fell 1-0 to the then Seattle Reign at Rio Tinto Stadium on August 11, 2018, the first match for Press and Johnson since the mega trade that brought them to Utah from Chicago. Since joining the league, Utah Royals FC have yet to score against the Reign.
