
Match Preview: Utah Royals FC Heads West to Face Portland Thorns FC

SANDY, Utah - Utah Royals FC heads West to take on Portland Thorns FC for the first time this season in a clash of two of the top three teams in the National Women's Soccer League. The match will mark the first time URFC has played at Providence Park since the downtown Portland stadium underwent renovations this past offseason.
DF Kelley O'Hara (USA), FW Christen Press (USA), DF Becky Sauerbrunn (USA), and MF Desiree Scott (CAN) will once again be absent from the match as they are all participating in the World Cup preparing for the Round of 16 matches. DF Rachel Corsie (SCO) and DF Katie Bowen (NZL) will also be absent as they have recently wrapped up their time in France with their respective national teams.
In its last match, Utah Royals FC defeated Sky Blue FC 1-0 behind a stunner of a goal from FW Amy Rodriguez and five crucial saves from GK Nicole Barnhart.
After missing the last two matches due to suspension, MF Lo'eau LaBonta will be available for selection against the Thorns.
URFC enters the match with a 0-2-1 (1 point) all-time record against Portland Thorns FC. Most recently Royals FC fell 4-0 to the Thorns at Providence Parkon July 6, 2018. Since the creation of the club, Utah has yet to earn a point on the road against Portland.
