
Match Preview: Gotham FC Returns to Regular Season Play on the Road Against San Diego Wave FC on Saturday

HARRISON, NJ - NJ/NY Gotham FC is back in regular season action this weekend after a strong run in the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup. With players returning from the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup to Gotham FC training sessions this week, the club has arrived on the West Coast in preparation to face the San Diego Wave FC on Saturday at Snapdragon Stadium (10 p.m. ET, Paramount+).
Gotham FC enters the weekend tied for second place on points with 25, one behind league leader North Carolina Courage and sitting even with the Portland Thorns, while San Diego occupies the sixth and final playoff spot with 21 points.
The club will have Women's World Cup players Sinead Farrelly (Ireland), Kelley O'Hara (United States) and Ifeoma Onumonu (Nigeria) back for the first time, in addition to Bruninha (Brazil), who returned in Gotham FC's final Challenge Cup match on August 9.
Gotham FC will be back in front of the home fans next week for a special welcome back celebration of World Cup stars on Aug. 27 at Red Bull Arena against Racing Louisville.
