
Match Preview: Battery Set for Antigua

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery takes on Antigua Barracuda FC Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6:00 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. The Battery will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday's 2-1 road loss versus the Orlando City Lions. Its T-Shirt night on Friday presented by avVenta and the first 500 children through the turnstiles will receive a free Charleston Battery t-shirt.
The Battery (7-3-0) enters the match tied for second place in the USL PRO standings five points behind Orlando but having played one game less.
Antigua Barracuda (2-6-0) returns to USL PRO action on Friday after a one month hiatus while the Antigua & Barbuda national team played FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Several Antigua Barracuda players also play for the national team and Tom Curtis is the head coach for both sides.
Antigua & Barbuda lost 3-1 to the USA last Friday night in Tampa with the lone Antigua goal scored by Barracuda's striker Peter Byers. On Tuesday night Antigua tied 0-0 with Jamaica.
Antigua Barracuda's last USL PRO match was a 2-1 loss to Orlando in a game played back on May 13.
This is the second of four games scheduled between Antigua and the Battery in 2012. Charleston defeated the Barracuda's 4-0 at Blackbaud Stadium on May 4 behind goals from Jose Cuevas, Nicki Paterson, Sallieu Bundu and Dane Kelly.
The Battery will visit Antigua for the two final games of the 2012 series on June 28 and July 1.
