ATL UTD 2 returns to Fifth Third Bank Stadium following a week off. In its last outing, Atlanta defeated North Carolina FC 2-1 on April 13. Jackson Conway and Gordon Wild each scored to earn ATL UTD 2 its second straight win. Wild netted his first goal with ATL UTD 2 to put Atlanta ahead in the 25th minute, but North Carolina equalized in the 36th minute through Marios Lomis. However, 17-year-old Conway scored the game-winner in the 67th minute for his first professional goal.
Tampa Bay also returns to action following a week off. The Rowdies played to a 1-1 draw against Louisville City FC on April 13. Andrew Tinari scored in the 15th minute to give Tampa the advantage, but Abdou Thiam equalized in the 88th minute to split the points.
Wednesday's match marks the fourth meeting all-time between ATL UTD 2 and the Rowdies. Tampa won one match (1-0, Sept. 15) while the other two contests finished in ties last season (0-0, June 2 and 1-1, Oct. 3). The Rowdies will be without Antoine Hoppenot after he was suspended for one game following the review of an incident in the game against Louisville by the Independent Discipline Panel.
