Vancouver FC News Release

Langley, BC - The Eagles are back on the road this weekend to face CPL Shield contenders, Forge FC, just days after playing the most important match in the club's history. Following a gritty performance against what is arguably the best team in the country, Vancouver FC finished the Canadian Championship as runners-up, a historic achievement. With no more chances to reach the playoffs, the Eagles will now look to extend their winning streak, climb above the B.C. rival, Pacific FC, in the standings, and shake up the CPL Shield race.

MATCH STORY: EAGLES AIM TO EXTEND MOMENTUM IN HAMILTON CLASH

The Eagles are undoubtedly a transformed team compared to the one that took the field for much of the 2025 season. Two strong league performances against playoff-bound sides, followed by a fierce showing against MLS's Vancouver Whitecaps, have showcased the team's true potential and their intent to disrupt Forge's run for the CPL Shield. Although Saturday's match will be their third in six days, Martin Nash is expected to rely on most of his key players as the team heads to Hamilton determined to secure a win. A victory could also see VFC draw level on points with PFC and keep the battle alive to avoid finishing at the bottom of the table this year.

One of Nash's primary attacking threats for this fixture is 21-year-old Elate Bah. He has delivered consistently strong performances throughout the season and arrives on the back of a productive run, registering three assists and one goal across the Eagles' last three matches. His confidence and commitment to continual improvement present a significant challenge for Forge's defense, which must remain disciplined and minimize errors to prevent VFC from securing points on the road.

VFC READY TO CHALLENGE FORGE WITH EMERGING TALENT

It has been over a year since the Eagles last defeated Forge, and tomorrow's fixture could be the match where VFC is best prepared and most confident to claim points. While the starting XI is not expected to see significant changes, Martin Nash is likely to give younger players more minutes. Kevin Podgorni and Jay Herdman, who have had limited opportunities this season, may have a chance to showcase their potential, while attacker Zach Verhoven, signed for the remainder of the season, could make his debut since rejoining the Eagles.
