Fresno FC News Release
MATCH PREVIEW
The Highway 99 Derby returns to Fresno for the second time this season, as the Foxes host nearest rival Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Republic FC won the first derby between the two clubs, taking a 1-0 result on June 13th with Luis Espino Vasquez' goal at the 37th minute. The Foxes will look to avenge that loss and gain ground in the playoff race after a rough road trip that saw them drop two 1-0 results at Colorado Springs and Real Monarchs, respectively. Head Coach Adam Smith is eager to take points from his former club, after holding them to just one goal, despite outshooting Republic 17-13. Since that result, however, Republic have lost two and drawn one, but remain in solid position in the Western Conference table at third place with 29 points. Forward Cameron Iwasa, who scored both of Republic's goals in their 2-2 draw against Saint Louis FC to place him within one goal of tying Rodrigo Lopez's all-time club record for most goals in USL play (20).
