Match Day | Exhibition: Fresno FC vs. Whitecaps FC Futures
September 5, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release
MATCH PREVIEW
Watch the future stars of Fresno FC and MLS Vancouver Whitecaps, as the two sides battle it out in a midweek exhibition at Chukchansi Park. The Foxes, coming off a 1-1 draw against Reno 1868 FC over the weekend in USL competition, will also scout a handful of trialists and PDL U-23 players against the up-and-coming stars of Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Starting on the Fresno FC roster will be newly signed midfielder Don Smart, who joined the club after a NPSL championship run with Miami FC, and forward Myer Bevan, who made his Fresno FC debut last weekend as a substitute against Reno.
Vancouver will be coached by academy technical director Craig Dalrymple, who spent his career as a youth at the Ipswich Town FC Academy, from 1986-1992. During that time, Fresno FC general manager Frank Yallop was a defender on the Ipswich Town FC's first-team roster in the English Premier League.
Playing for Whitecaps FC Reserves will be goalkeeper Chituru Odunze, who was recently called into the U.S. U-17 National Team Camp in July. At 6-foot-6 and just 15 years old, Odunze is prized to become another top prospect to graduate from the Whitecaps FC Academy. Also on the roster are forward Simon Colyn, midfielder Michael Baldisimo (younger brother of Fresno FC's Matthew Baldisimo), and striker Theo Bair, all of which signed MLS Homegrown contracts with Vancouver over the summer.
JOSE RAMIREZ FIGHT PROMOTION
Fresno Football Club is inviting soccer fans to support both the Foxes and the Pride of the Valley boxer Jose Ramirez in his World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Lightweight title defense against Antonio Orozco on September 14th. As part of the promotion, the first 1,000 fans that purchase a single-game ticket to the Foxes September 5th friendly against Vancouver Whitecaps FC will receive a free voucher to Ramirez's WBC World Title Defense live on ESPN's flagship channel in primetime at The Save Mart Center.
