October 8, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Upper Marlboro, MD. Andrew Haines, owner of the ABA Maryland Nighthawks announced today the signing of former St. Augustine College star Charles Ward. "Charles brings a great work ethic and is the type of tough, physical player that we are looking for out of all of our players, " Haines said. " Any time you can get a guy that has as much pro experience as Charles, it can only benefit the whole organization." As a standout at St. Augustine College, in Raleigh, NC, Charles led the nation in field goal percentage (69.8%) in 2001 and was voted to the CIAA All Tournament team. He is a versatile player that likes to play above the rim, something that is sure to excite the NightHawks faithful at the Show Place Arena.

NightHawks Coach Twiggy Sanders added, "Charles is an exceptional athlete, capable of playing several positions on the floor very well. He brings a physical presence to our team and might be the most athletic guy out on the court."

Charles is slated to play both the small forward and power forward positions. He has proven himself to be an exceptional athlete that always plays hard. As a pro, Charles played for the Harlem Globetrotters, the Pennsylvania Valley Dogs (USBL), and played in the Rucker Basketball Summer League in New York City, just to name a few. He has excelled at every level he has played. He brings a lot to the table for the NightHawks and should be a fan favorite.

The Maryland NightHawks is the new professional Men's Professional Basketball Team in the area. The NightHawks join the legendary American Basketball Association (ABA) as one of the most promising up and coming expansion teams.
