Maryland Maniacs Open Workout Set

October 7, 2008 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Maryland Maniacs News Release

Laurel, MD (October 7, 2008) - Think Vince Papale, who went from an open tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles to being immortalized in the film "Invincible." Think Fred Jackson, who went from playing for the Indoor Football League's Sioux City Bandits to the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. Think about a player's dream of a professional career coming true after making their mark at the Maryland Maniacs open workout.

The Maryland Maniacs, Maryland's newest pro football franchise, will be holding its second open workout on Saturday, October 11th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (registration starts at 8:30 AM) at the Soccerdome in Jessup, Maryland. The Maniacs, who will kickoff their inaugural season in the spring of 2009 are looking for a "new breed of player," who has the determination, guts, and talent to play professional indoor football.

"It does take a new breed of player to play indoor football. It is all about speed, big plays, and hard-hitting action - and then there are the walls. Players go into them; players go over them. Sometimes the player wins and sometimes the wall wins. We are looking for players who are willing to face that challenge," stated Maniacs General Manager John Wolfe.

In September the Maniacs announced their first signing, Donnie Woods a former University of Maryland Terps' offensive line standout.

The Soccerdome is located at 7330 Montevideo Road Jessup, MD 20794. Cost is $50 for pre-registered players and $60 for walk-up players. The Maniacs are also donating a portion of the registration fees to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Players may pre-register by going to www.marylandmaniacs.com. Players must wear turf shoes, flats for cleats, shorts and a t-shirt. All participants will also receive a free Maryland Maniacs t-shirt.

The Maryland Maniacs are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL), a 23-member national league based in Omaha, Nebraska with teams located in such states as Alaska, New York, Texas, and Washington.
