Martin Luther King III joins Gwizzlies
June 5, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Atlanta Vision News Release
The ABA Gwinnett Gwizzlies are rolling out the "Big Guns" early by enlisting the support and involvement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s oldest son, Martin Luther King III.
Gwizzlies officials say King III has agreed to be the 11th celebrity man basketball player at the Gwizzlies home opener ballgame in November. He also will support the Gwizzlies when the team plays in the famed NBA Summer Pro League in July and visit the Gwizzlies tryout camp in Suwanee next week.
King III loves the game of basketball, following the tradition of his father who also loved basketball said Gwizzlies officials. The Gwizzlies will enlist King III to help assist the franchise in bringing on major corporate sponsors as Coke,Georgia Power and Delta Airlines.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
