Morehead City Marlins News Release

Morehead City, N.C.- The Morehead City Marlins are proud to announce Mitch Kluver as the franchise's new General Manager.

Kluver, an Alexandria, MN native, comes to the Marlins after serving as the Assistant General Manager of the Alexandria Beetles of the Northwoods League. In 2011, prior to working with the Beetles, Kluver served as a General Operations intern with the Fargo/Moorhead RedHawks of the Independent Northern League. Kluver graduated Cum Laude from Augsburg College, located in Minneapolis, with a degree in Business Management.

"I am truly blessed to have this opportunity. The Coastal Plain League's reputation as an elite summer collegiate league speaks for itself. Buddy has built a solid foundation for the Marlins franchise, and I am here to put my signature on it," said Kluver.

"The Marlins are excited to have Mitch in Morehead City and are thrilled with the enthusiasm, work ethic, and experience he will bring to the Marlins organization, said Marlins owner Buddy Bengel.

The Marlins open the 2013 season on Tuesday May 28th, on the road against the Fayetteville SwampDogs. The home opener is the following night, May 29th, against the Forest City Owls. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 57 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
