Morehead City Marlins News Release
Morehead City, N.C.- The Carteret County Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Carolina Workforce Development Board has honored the Morehead City Marlins with the Community Advocate Award for 2013. The Marlins were recognized at the annual Chamber/Workforce Awards Luncheon on Friday January 24th. The event celebrates outstanding employers in the region.
Community Advocate Awards recognize employers who contribute to the quality of life of all citizens through effective community relations programming. Dr. Kerry Youngblood of Carteret Community College presented the award. "I am honored to present the Community Advocate Award that recognizes employers that go the extra mile to make Carteret County a better place in which to live, work, and raise our families, because they excel in community relations" said Dr. Youngblood.
"The Marlins have already made a huge impression in Morehead City. The Marlins have generously supported the Chamber's Military Affairs Committee, Hope Mission, Wounded Warriors, Broad Street Clinic, the American Cancer Society, and many more. Scores of youth groups, from Little League teams to Scouts, from the Boys & Girls Clubs to elementary schools, have benefited." Marlins owner Buddy Bengel, and General Manager Mitch Kluver were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the organization.
"We are truly honored to be recognized by the Chamber for this outstanding award," said Marlins owner Buddy Bengel. "The Marlins are proud to be a partner in the Carteret County community and we look forward to continuing that relationship for many years to come. We want to thank all of our sponsors, fans, and host families for allowing the Marlins organization to thrive. I am excited to see everyone at the stadium this summer."
