Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - For the first time in a decade, the Amarillo Bulls will have a new voice behind the microphone when the team begins its 10th anniversary season in September.
The Bulls announced, today, that Mark Shelley has been named as the teams new Director of Broadcasting/Media and Community Relations.
"I am beyond thrilled to be a part of such an outstanding organization, on and off the ice, and I am excited to be a part of this next chapter of Bulls hockey," said Shelley. "Amarillo is a passionate hockey community, and it was a no-brainer to join an organization and a community that shares the same passion for the game of hockey as I do."
Prior to joining the Bulls, the Landisburg, Pennsylvania native spent two seasons as the play-by-play voice of the Cornell University Women's Hockey program, broadcasting regular season and playoff contests. He simultaneously served as the "Voice of Cornell Wrestling" and the lead play-by-play broadcaster of high school sports for ESPN Ithaca.
"The Amarillo Bulls Organization are excited about adding Mark as the new voice of the Amarillo Bulls!" said Bulls General Manager Rick Matchett. "Denis Puska did a great job for us, and he will be missed, but Mark brings a lot to the table that we're looking forward too. He will be a great addition to our Front Office staff and will be selling tickets, corporate and groups, plus, he will be working with Rocky and his staff and, of course, with our players. It's time for a new chapter of the Amarillo Bulls, and we're thrilled that Mark is becoming a part of our family!"
Along with his day-to-day responsibilities, Shelley will assume the role as the play-by-play broadcaster for all of the Bulls' 28 home and 28 road contests, along with the team's four games during the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota in September. He will also take an active role in the social media presence of the team, contributing daily content during gamedays and off days.
"We are very excited to have Mark join our Amarillo Bulls family, said Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo. "He brings a wealth of hockey experience and knowledge and will do a tremendous job of calling our games for all of our fans and families listening from home!"
The Bulls are preparing for the organization's 10th anniversary season as a proud member of the North American Hockey League. The season begins on Monday, September 16 on the road against the Topeka Pilots, before the Bulls participate in the NAHL Showcase from September 18-21.
