Mayhem Back to Work This Weekend Despite having last weekend off, the Marion Mayhem retained their spot at the top of the Continental Indoor Football League's Eastern Division, with a record of 3-2.
The Mayhem's closest competitors in the East, the Fort Wayne Freedom, dropped their third straight decision, 56-41 to the Western Division leading Chicago Slaughter in Fort Wayne last Saturday night.
This Weekend's Mayhem The Mayhem will return to the indoor football field this Saturday night when coach Pepe Pearson's crew will head over to Wheeling to take on the Wildcats (1-4) at the Wesbanco Arena for a 7:00PM kickoff.
Saturday's encounter will be the second of three meetings between the two teams: the Mayhem took a 55-47 decision at the Coliseum in the opener on March 13th, and the two clubs will meet for the final time this season on Saturday, May 16th back in Marion.
Feels Like the First Time The Wildcats won their first game in the team's short history last Saturday night with a 52-28 victory over the Miami Valley Silverbacks in Troy, OH last Saturday night. Wildcats quarterback Rod Rutherford threw for four touchdowns and ran for another two in the winning effort.
Upcoming Mayhem After this weekend's trip to Wheeling, the Mayhem will play two of their next three games at the friendly confines of the Coliseum. On Saturday night, May 2nd, the Mayhem will host the Miami Valley Silverbacks in the second of three encounters between the two teams in 2009.
After the meeting with the Silverbacks, the Mayhem will make their first trip to Madison, WI on May 9th, where they will take on the Wisconsin Wolfpack, another of the CIFL's 2009 expansion teams.
