April 29, 2009 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) - Marion Mayhem News Release

What A Finish!!! The Mayhem engineered a thrilling last second finish on Saturday night, coming home with a 61-57 victory over the Wheeling Wildcats in Wheeling.

In his first start since week one of the 2009 campaign, quarterback Stanley Jackson had a masterful game, throwing for five touchdown passes, including a six-yard strike to Ian Schmidt with eight seconds left in regulation to give the Mayhem (4-2) the victory.

The win ensured that coach Pepe Pearson's crew would maintain their hold on first place in the CIFL's Eastern Division.

Award Winning Mayhem Stanley Jackson and Mike Tatum were named the CIFL's offensive and special teams players of the week respectively for this week.

While Jackson led the offense, Tatum played solidly on special teams, including a 51 yard kickoff return for a touchdown midway through the second quarter.

This Weekend's Mayhem The Mayhem return to the friendly confines of the Coliseum this Saturday night for an encounter with the Miami Valley Silverbacks for a 7:30 kickoff.

On March 27th, the Mayhem pounded the Silverbacks 55-0 at the Coliseum in the first game between the two teams this season.

Saturday night's game is also Bike Night. The motorcycle festivities will kick off at Conway's BBQ at 5:00PM, with the run to the Coliseum starting at 6:15PM.

Two dollars from every ticket for Saturday night's game sold at Conway's will be donated to the Brandy Winfield Memorial Poker Run motorcycle rally.

Winfield was a Marion County sheriff's deputy who was killed in the line of duty on October 14, 2004.

Upcoming Mayhem

After this Saturday's game, the Mayhem will be hitting the road to Madison, WI, where they will take on the Wisconsin Wolfpack next Saturday night. The Mayhem's next home game will be on Saturday night, May 16th when the Wheeling Wildcats make their second and final appearance of the season at the Coliseum. Got Tickets?
