Mariners to hold tryouts

Virginia Beach, Virginia - The Virginia Beach Mariners will be holding invitation-only tryouts for the 2004 season on Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Two tryout sessions will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and one on Sunday at 10 a.m. The tryouts are open to the public.

Tickets to the Mariners vs. the Dallas Burn match on March 19 will be sold during tryouts. Tickets will be on sale from 10:30 a.m. until noon and from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. until noon on Sunday.

The exhibition match between Virginia Beach and Dallas will be held at the Sportsplex with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Until gameday, tickets are $10 for ages 4 and up. Children 6 and under are free. All tickets at the gate on the day of the game are $12. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.marinerssoccer.com, at the Mariners office at the Sportsplex, or at the Virginia Rush Soccer Club office in Virginia Beach (430-3500).

The Mariners will open their 2004 A-League season on April 30 at Richmond and open their home schedule the following night at 7:30 p.m. on May 1, again playing Richmond.
