Mariners take on the Wave
Virginia Beach, Virginia Â– The Wave will hit the Beach Friday night at 8 p.m. when Milwaukee Wave United and the Virginia Beach Mariners face off at the Sportsplex. Fox Sports World will televise the match live.
Virginia Beach The Mariners have not had much success in A-League play going 2-6-2 (8 points) this season, resting in 8th place in the 9-team Eastern Conference. In Rochester on June 12, the team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss and the following night, suffered another one goal defeat in Syracuse 1-0. Eight of ten of the teamÂ’s losses have been by one goal.

The Mariners qualified for the third round of the U.S. Open Cup March 15, overwhelming the Pro Development LeagueÂ’s top team, the DFW Tornadoes, 2-0 on goals by Mark Jonas and Dante Washington. The Mariners outshot the Tornadoes 18-3. The Mariners move on to meet the Dallas Burn (MLS) on Wednesday, June 30, in Texas.
