Mariners' Friday night match to be broadcast live on national television

The Mariners travel to Canada this weekend and will face the Montreal Impact for the second time this season on Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Claude Robillard Sports Complex. The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel. Montreal outlasted the Mariners on May 7, 1-0 at the Sportsplex. The Mariners will travel to Toronto on Sunday, August 28 to face the Lynx at 6 p.m. and will return home to the Sportsplex on September 2 to host Portland and on September 4 will host Charleston. Both home matches kick off at 7:30 p.m.

The Match Up

Virginia Beach (5-12-6, 21 points) The Mariners are 2-1-2 in their last five starts and are still hoping to qualify for the playoffs. Team scoring leader Darren Caskey, who missed the team's last match in Atlanta due to injury, stands 20th in the USL First Division in points with 11 in 19 games. Goalkeeper Matt Nelson ranks 8th in the Division in wins with five in 23 games and stands seventh in shutouts with five. He stands 10h League-wide with 63 saves and his 1.478 Goals-against-average (GAA) ranks 8th. The Mariners are 1-7-3 on the road this season.

Montreal (13-2-7, 46 points) Montreal currently stands in first place in the USL First Division and has posted a 2-1-2 record in their last 5 games. Mauro Biello leads the Impact with 17 points in 22 games and is listed 8th in the Division. His seven goals ranks him 9th. GK Greg Sutton ranks second Division-wide in wins with 10 in 19 matches, second in shutouts with 10 and eighth in saves with 70. His 0.578 GAA ranks him first in the Division. Montreal is 6-1-3 at home this season.
