Coming into the second game of the series against the Danville Braves the Mariners' offense battled to end their three-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the Braves.
Pulaski hung 4 on the board in the second inning. Yordi Calderon began with a single, followed by another from Daniel Torres allowing Calderon to advance to third. A ground ball by Perez brought Calderon home for the first Mariners run of the evening. Fernandez's fly ball into left field brought home Perez and Wawoe, tying the game. A sacrifice fly by Wayne Taylor allowed Arby Fields to reach home for the fourth run of the inning for the Mariners, bringing them to a 4-3 lead.
Neither team was exceptionally sharp in the field. Danville errors allowed the Mariners many extra opportunities at the plate, and the duly capitalized.
On the other hand, the Mariners also struggled in the field with three errors themselves. Two of starter Taylor Byrd's six runs were unearned as a result of Mariners' miscues. Byrd threw the and a third innings, surrendered five hits, walked two, and allowed a third inning home run to Tanner Murphy.
The Mariners forever took the lead with a two-run fifth inning. Morales started off the inning with a walk, and went on to score on a hit to right field by Georvic Perez, who eventually score on a wild pitch by Carlos Salazar.
Pulaski's bullpen shut down the Braves. Rohn Pierce and Trey Cochran-Gill combined to hurl five and two thirds of shutout ball. For his efforts, Pierce earned the win, and Cochran-Gill earned his fourth save of the season.
Pulaski and Danville battle in the rubber match of the series tomorrow night at Historic Calfee Park.
