
Mariners Avoid Sweep, Take Down Rays 7-5

Pulaski, VA- Pulaski denied Princeton of the series sweep Friday night at Calfee Park earning their 14th victory of the year.
M's starter Charles Kaalekahi threw 5 2/3 giving up 7 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, and striking out 6 Princeton batters en route to his third win of the season. After tonight's performance Kaalekahi moves to 3-2 on nine games started and drops his ERA to 2.27, which is among the Appalachian League's best. David Holman also put together a successful outing as he earned his 5th save of the year, moving him to fourth in the league.
Offensively for the Mariners Felipe Burin (2-5, 2R), Jordy Lara (2-4, 2B, 2R, RBI), and Tyler Marlette (3-4, RBI) all had multi-hit nights. Princeton's third baseman Darryl George also had himself a night going 3-4 with 3 RBI's.
The Mariners travel to Burlington North Carolina tomorrow to take on the first place Royals in the first game of a three game series. Pulaski will return to Calfee Park on Tuesday, August 7th, where they will battle the Greenville Astros.
