Sacramento Capitals News Release
(Sacramento, Calif.) - Sacramento Capitals marquee player, Mardy Fish, has been forced to withdraw from the Capitals home match this Friday due to aggravating an oblique muscle. Fish is currently the top-ranked American male player.
"We are very disappointed that Mardy will not be able to play tomorrow evening, but injuries are an inherent part of sports and we wish him a quick recovery in preparation for the US Open Series," said Sacramento Capitals General Manger Matt McEvoy. "We are working diligently to bring another marquee player to Capitals Stadium for one of this season's remaining matches," he added.
Ticket holders for the Friday match against the Newport Beach Breakers will receive $5 in "CAPS Credit" when they arrive at the stadium on Friday evening. The credit can be used towards the purchase of tickets for a future match in the 2011 or 2012 season.
