Texas Revolution News Release
Allen, TX: The Indoor Football League (IFL) proudly announced today at 3:00 P.M. EST that Frankie Solomon Jr. of the Texas Revolution has been named Defensive Player of the Week and Marcus Jackson has been named Offensive Player of the Week for their performances against Tri-Cities on March 29, 2013.
Last Friday marked the second league win for the Texas Revolution and the first on the road. After a first half that went back and forth, the defense, led by Solomon Jr., forced some key turnovers late and allowed Jackson's offense to build a double digit lead. The Revolution won the game 54-43.
Solomon Jr.'s performance was spectacular. He finished with a forced fumble, 2 interceptions, and a game high 10 tackles. His 4 interceptions in 4 games played and 51 interception return yards on the season top the league in both categories.
"Frankie is a flat out playmaker," Head Coach Billy Back said. "He's everywhere the ball is at. He just makes plays, what else can you say about him. He's good!"
Jackson's had by far his best performance of the season as well. He totaled 16-28 passing for a season high 4 passing touchdowns and 215 passing yards. He also threw no interceptions in a game where possession was a key to victory. Jackson added 2 rushing touchdowns as well.
"Marcus is a team captain and team leader who can not only throw it, but can take off and run it as well," said Back. "He's dangerous because teams have to prepare for both his arm and his legs, also his leadership. This is just the tip of the iceberg with him, once he gets more comfortable in the pocket the sky is the limit."
