Marcel-Robert Trophy candidates revealed

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, February 17, 2009 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced team candidates vying for the Marcel-Robert Trophy, which will be awarded to the Scholastic Player of the Year at the Golden Puck Awards Gala on Wednesday, April 1st.

Each team's candidate will receive a $400 bursary. The five finalists, who are expected to be announced in the next few days, will earn an additional $400.

Finally, the award-winner will receive the Marcel-Robert Trophy as well as a $500 grant.

"It will certainly be a very tight race," said Robert Baker, the QMJHL Education Advisor. "All eighteen players have exceeded academic expectations. The selection committee will have some work to do in order to choose the five finalists."

The committee is comprised of Valérie Monette, Pierre Leduc, Robert Baker and Guy Darveau.
