Bradenton Marauders News Release

Tampa, Fla. - The Marauders (16-11) took on Tampa (11-16) on Sunday to close out a six-game road trip to Steinbrenner Field. The Marauders and Tarpons would trade runs consistently throughout the game, but the Tampa would cash in on their opportunities in the later innings and take the 10-7 win.

Bradenton had a flying start to the game scoring a pair of runs in the first inning after the first five men reached safely to start the contest. The Marauders would add another in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead after two and a half innings played.

Tampa would hang six runs in the bottom of the third and bat around the order; two runs that scored in the inning were unearned, a theme that would haunt the Marauders all game long.

The Marauders fired right back, rallying with two men down in the top of the fourth to push across four runs, highlighted by an RBI double from Jared Triolo. The AAA rehab assignee finished that game 3-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Best of luck to Jared as he returns to Indy on Tuesday!

With the 'Ders up 7-6 after the fifth, errors would be the downfall in the later innings. Tampa scored in both the sixth and seventh innings due to fielding errors. Four of the ten runs scored by Tampa in the game were unearned.

The Tarpons lead 10-7 going into the ninth after adding two more runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Marauders would not go silently, though, and loaded the bases with one out in the frame, but the rally would fall short after a strikeout and groundout ended the game and gave the Tarpons the series split.

On Tuesday, the Marauders return home for the first time in two weeks, with Dominic Perachi scheduled to start on the hill taking on the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
