MANKATO, MN - With each passing day, the inaugural Habaneros season inches closer and closer to first pitch. With the new addition to the team, this season is chalking up to be quite promising. Amity White is looking to add some of her championship mentality to the Habaneros as the team's first player to be signed.
The Brundidge Alabama native lettered all four seasons at Pike County High School, earning some pretty impressive stats along the way. She had nearly 100 stolen bases over the course of her sophomore and junior seasons. As a sophomore during the 2021 season, she earned first- team all-state honors when she hit .500 (68-of-136) and had a .521 on-base percentage with three home runs, nine doubles, and 23 runs batted.
The now South Alabama Jaguar outfielder backed that up with a .450 batting average with 19 doubles, nine triples, and three home runs with 43 stolen bases as a junior earning her AISA first-team all-state honors from the ASWA. Not to mention, she was also 28-of-28 on stolen bases. She then led Tuscaloosa Academy to three straight state championships (2017-19) and played three seasons of travel ball for the Alabama Fury Showcase. She batted .617 for the Fury following her junior season where she had 10 home runs, 15 doubles, six triples, and 26 stolen bases.
Coming from a family rooted in baseball, her father played four seasons of collegiate baseball and her brother has played at Florida State and UAB, her talents were seen as the continuation of a proud family tradition, setting her on a path to carve out her remarkable journey in the sport. Speaking of remarkable, White only just recently picked up the sport. Starting play just about five years ago, White's talent has proven to be nothing short of amazing. Despite her relatively short time in the sport, she has quickly become a force to be reckoned with on the field.
As the countdown to the Habaneros' inaugural season ticks away, Amity White's signing represents a new era of promise and potential for the team. With a storied high school career, White brings not only her remarkable talent but also a championship mindset honed through years of dedication and triumph. With each step closer to the start of the season, anticipation mounts, and the stage is set for Amity White to leave her mark on the Habaneros.
