Manchester Wolves News Release
It was all defense for the Manchester Wolves in their first win of the 2006 season, as they stopped the Louisville Fire seven times en route to 39-34 win in front of 5,263, at Louisville's Freedom Hall.
The Wolves defense, led by Allistair Sebastien, forced a pair of field goals, fumbles and interceptions on the night. Manchester put out the Fire's remaining flames on the last drive of the game with just five seconds left, as the Wolves swatted away Louisville quarterback Brett Dietz's desperation 28-yard Hail-Mary attempt that bounced off the end zone net. Sebastien earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Game with his two interceptions, his 21 st and 22nd all-time, ranking him 4th overall in af2 league history.
Manchester went up 14-10 in the second quarter on a 7-yard touchdown pass to Marc Bacote from Kyle Rowley and protected their lead the rest of the game.
WR/LB Marc Bacote earned the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game with his four touchdown grabs (6-39yards), while FB/LB Mark Kimener earned the U.S. ARMY Ironman of the Game for his solid play on defense and 12-yd rushing touchdown on offense. The Wolves swept all the post-game awards except the new "Cutters Catch of the Game" which went to Fire's Rob Mager for his third quarter touchdown grab.
Quarterback Kyle Rowley finished with 187yards and four touchdowns while throwing two interceptions during his first game as a Wolves starter. Wolves' WR/DB teammate David Bailey led all receivers with 12 receptions for 85 yards.
The Wolves return to action on Saturday April 22, at 7:30pm at home on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. against East Division Rival Albany Conquest (2-1) for Touchdown Towel Night.
