QUACK TRACKS

Big Night

The Mallards' largest home crowd (9,347) in exactly ten years watched last Saturday's 7-1 win over the Cutthroats. Last Saturday's game was also the best-attended contest in the Central Hockey League this season. Over two nights last weekend the Mallards drew 13,379 fans to the i wireless Center- 4,032 spectators attended the Mallard's 4-3 loss to Fort Worth last Friday evening- the largest attendance total for back-to-back Mallards home games in nearly nine years.

Big Night, Take 2

The Mallards set team single game season highs for most goals (7), most unanswered goals (7), largest margin of victory (6), most power play goals (3), most power plays (9) and most shots on goal (46) in last Saturday's win.

Big Night, Take 3

Mickey Lang broke loose for a natural hat trick and a league season high total of six points last Saturday, while linemate Mike Stinziani also ripped off a natural hat trick and added an assist. Lang is the first Mallard to pile up six points in a game since Luke Stauffcher registered a half dozen points on December 30, 2006 in a 7-4 Mallard victory over the Generals in Flint. The Mallards have now produced three hat tricks in just their last five games- Stinziani also scored three times in the Mallards' January 10 5-2 win at Bloomington.

3M

Linemates Lang, Stinziani and Mike Hellyer totaled 14 points in last Saturday's win. Hellyer established a Mallard single game season high and matched a CHL season high by collecting four assists against Denver. Last Saturday's outburst extended Lang's point-scoring streak to eight games (7-7-14), matching his own mark for the longest such streak by a Mallard this season. Hellyer is in the midst of a six-game point scoring streak (3-6-9), while Stinziani has totaled 11 points (six goals and five assists) in just his last five games.

Rebound

Last Saturday's win also halted the Mallards' three-game losing streak. The Mallards fell by just one goal in each of those three defeats.

Showdown

The Mallards will travel to Arizona this weekend for a two game series against the Sundogs, who are currently four points ahead of the Mallards in the race for eighth place and the final CHL playoff spot. Arizona widened its lead over the Mallards to four points by defeating the league-leading Allen Americans 3-2 today in Allen. The Sundogs visit the Tulsa Oilers tomorrow night and will have played three more games than the Mallards by the time the teams collide Friday evening.

Special Teams

By scoring three times on the man advantage last Saturday- and four times in their two games last weekend- the Mallards moved out of the league basement and into ninth place in power play efficiency (12.9 percent). The Mallards lead the league in shorthanded goals (7) and rank fourth in penalty killing (84.7).

Leaders

Lang is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals (3), ranks third in goals (22), is tied for fourth in points (47) and is tied for fifth in power play goals (6). Among rookies, Hellyer is tied for the league lead in assists (20) and ranks fourth in points (31) while Stinziani ranks third in goals (15) and points (32). Matt Duffy, who is riding a four-game point-scoring streak (1-6-7), ranks fourth among CHL defensemen in assists (19) and fifth in points (23). Neil Conway ranks sixth in goals against average (2.63) and is tied for ninth in save percentage (.908) while John Murray ranks third in minutes played (1257:08).

Milestones

Patrik Levesque is three goals short of 100 for his career.
