Saturday, December 23rd - Fort Wayne 3 at Quad City 2
A spirited Mallards comeback attempt fell one goal short in the team's final game before Christmas as Fort Wayne topped the Mallards 3-2 on Saturday night at The MARK. Justin Chwedoruk and Chad Woollard scored the Quad City goals. In the first, Chwedoruk tipped home a Nick Harloff point shot just 14 seconds into the game to give Quad City a 1-0 edge. The Komets stormed back to score all three of their goals before the opening period ended. David Hukalo scored shorthanded at 1:51 of the period. Matt Syroczynski scored at even strength 2:25 later to give the Komets the lead. Bogdan Rudenko netted the eventual game-winning goal at 16:15 of the period with the Komets on the power play. In the third, Quad City buzzed the Komet net for much of the period but could not net the equalizer. The Mallards outshot Fort Wayne 19-6 in the third period and 42-35 for the game.
Tuesday, December 26th - Chicago 4 at Quad City 6

The Hounds cut back into the Mallards lead at 6:34 of the middle period when Adam Kostichka scored his fourth goal of the year. In the third, Bob Rapoza netted an even strength goal to pull Chicago within one at 5-4. After the Hounds pressured the Quad City net for several shifts in pursuit of an equalizer, Sean Starke scored into an empty net when Marty Magers left in favor of the sixth attacker to set the final at 6-4. In the game, 11 Mallards skaters recorded points including eight of the team's 10 forwards. Justin Chwedoruk led the charge with four points on a goal and three assists.
