
Mallards Sign Rookie Duo

MOLINE, Ill. (September 12, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed centers Sean Flanagan and Jeremy Boyer. Per team policy, no contract terms were announced.
Flanagan, 25, scored four goals and totaled 18 points in 35 games as a senior at St. Lawrence last season. Immediately after completing his collegiate career, the Canton, New York, native saw his first professional action with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers, four whom he played four games last spring.
"Sean is the product of a strong Division I college program in St. Lawrence and is very excited to prove he can play at this level for the Mallards," said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell.
The 5' 11", 170-pound Flanagan scored 12 times and produced 52 points in 121 career games for the Saints after playing for the Cornwall Colts of the Central (Ontario) Junior Hockey League in 2005-06.
Boyer, 21, scored 42 goals and totaled 87 points in 50 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League games with the Humboldt Broncos and Yorkton Terriers last season. The 6' 0", 180-pound Saskatoon native went on to help the Terriers to the SJHL Credit Union Cup finals.
"Jeremy has scored at every level he's played at and we have high hopes that he will be able to contribute for us as well," said Bell.
Boyer moved to the SJHL last season after spending four years in the major junior Western Hockey League with first the Seattle Thunderbirds and then the Saskatoon Blades.
Flanagan and Boyer join Obi Aduba, Jesse Biduke, Jared Brown, Justin Chwedoruk, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Jason Kostadine, Martin Kubaliak, Karl Linden, Brandon Marino, David McKee, Darren McMillan, Bobby Preece, Tyler Sheldrake, John Snowden and Quinn Waller to bring the number of signings announced by the Mallards for the 2011-12 season to 19.
The 2011-12 Mallards will see their first game action when they take the ice at the i wireless Center along with the Bloomington Blaze, Evansville IceMen and Missouri Mavericks for the Icebreaker on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16. The Mallards will open their second CHL regular season on home ice on Saturday night, October 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush.
