
Bloomington Blaze Sign Defenseman Ryan Palmer

The Bloomington Blaze presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union today announced the signing of defenseman Ryan Palmer. The twenty-eight year old native of Groton, Massachusetts joins Bloomington after playing the past two years for the Quad City Mallards.
Palmer, 6'-3", 215 lbs, brings a physical presence to the Blaze blue line. He begins his sixth professional season in Bloomington having previously played in Colorado, Laredo, Odessa, Muskegon, and Quad City. Overall, Ryan has played in 305 regular season games professionally, including 127 games the past two years in Quad City. Known as a solid, stay-at-home, defender, he has tallied 6 goals and 49 assists along with 453 penalty minutes since turning pro in the 2006-07 season.
Ryan Palmer played college hockey at the University of Connecticut for two seasons. He produced five goals and fourteen points in 63 career games as a Husky.
Ryan will begin his 2011-12 hockey season on September 23rd when he attends the Springfield Falcons (American Hockey League) camp.
Blazing Notes
The Blaze has confirmed two pre-season games during this year's training camp which opens October 10th at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Bloomington will play in Moline, Illinois at the i-wireless center against the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday, October 15th @ 7:00pm and will be playing a home pre-season game against the Evansville IceMen on Sunday, October 16th @ 3:00pm at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Tickets for the Blaze home pre-season game will be $5.00 and will be general admission.
The new Bloomington Blaze presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union will be playing in the fourteen team Central Hockey League beginning in October, 2011. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.
