Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that forward Don Parsons has agreed to terms on a two-year contract and will join the team immediately. Parsons comes to the Quad Cities with 811 games of professional experience and 1,125 career points on 585 goals and 540 assists. He has topped the 100-point plateau four times and has scored 50 or more goals during six seasons.

Parsons led the Central Hockey League (CHL) in scoring in 2002-03 and led the league in goal scoring on three occasions (2001-02, 2002-03 and 2004-05). Last season, Parson spent his sixth season with the Central Hockey League's Memphis RiverKings and scored 29 goals with 36 assists for 65 points in 52 games. During his time in Memphis, Parsons won two CHL Championships (2001-02 and 2002-03) and earned two CHL Most Valuable Player awards (2001-02 and 2002-03). He was also the league's post-season Most Valuable Player in 2002 and earned CHL Man of the Year Honors in 2003-04.

Before joining the RiverKings, Parsons spent the 1999-2000 season with the United Hockey League's Flint Generals. He ranked fifth in UHL scoring with 103 points on 46 goals and 57 assists. He was part of a Flint team swept Quad City in the final series to earn the Colonial Cup.

Parsons began his career with six seasons in the ECHL. He scored 50 goals for the first time as a member of the 1995-96 Johnstown Chiefs. In 1996-97, the Boston native began a three-year stint with the Louisiana IceGators (ECHL). During the 1997-98 season, he topped the 50-goal mark for the second time in his career and recorded 100 points for the first time.

"Don is one of a handful of elite players at this level," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "His offensive ability is fantastic, and he's a winner. We moved quickly once we realized he was available and were fortunate enough to get this done. It's a big day for this organization, and we know our fans will be just as excited as we are."

"Don is a player that produces and also raises the level of the other players on his team," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He has a tremendous level of offensive talent, and he has won championships. From a coach's perspective, there's not much more you could want."
