
Mallards Sign Austrian Defenseman

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that defenseman Florian Iberer has joined the Mallards. The 6-foot, 198-pound blueliner will be playing his first season of North American pro hockey.
Iberer appeared in 229 Austrian League games over the last six seasons. Last year with EC Graz of the Austrian League, he recorded a pair of goals with four assists for six points in 48 games. During his Austrian League career, the rearguard has four goals and 20 assists for 24 points.
In 2002, Iberer appeared in five games at the World Junior Championship. He was held scoreless in the tournament while recording a plus one rating.
The Mallards are back on the ice on Friday night at The MARK vs. the Flint Generals. Game time is 7 p.m. It's also a Happy Joe's Puck N Pizza Package Friday. On Saturday, the Mallards journey to Rockford for their first meeting of 2005-06 with the Rockford IceHogs. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Mallards Pre-Game Show begins at 6:40 p.m. During the intermission, stay tuned for the Swiss Valley Farms Intermission Report. After the game, the Allstate Insurance Christy Cox Post-Game Show will air.
