MOLINE, Ill. (June 6, 2012) - The Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League will honor Quad Cities area youth sports participants with the creation of the Mallards Good Sport award, the team announced today.
The Mallards Good Sport award will be presented to youth who best combine excellence in their sport with sportsmanship and leadership, as selected by their coaches. The Mallards will first honor athletes taking part in spring and summer sports. Winners will receive two complimentary tickets to a November Mallards home along with a congratulatory letter from the Mallards. During that game, they will be recognized for their achievements and presented with a certificate of achievement and gift.
"We're excited to have the chance to recognize young athletes in the Quad Cities area not only for their successes in their respective sports but also for demonstrating good sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork," said Mallards executive vice president Ryan Simmons.
Area youth coaches in spring and summer sports can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or info@myqcmallards.com for Good Sport award registration forms and further details. Youth ages 5 to 14 are eligible for the Good Sport award.
Additional tickets to Good Sport Night will be available for a discounted rate to family members and teammates of honorees. The Mallards will hold a second Good Sport Night to honor athletes in fall and winter sports later in the 2012-13 season. The dates for both Good Sports Nights will be announced after the 2012-13 CHL schedule is finalized later this summer.
