Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed defenseman Nick Grasso, the Mallards announced today.

"Nick is a young defenseman who has shown a lot of promise," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "First and foremost he's solid and conscientious in his own zone and he is also a very consistent performer game to game."

Grasso, 25, turns professional with the Mallards after completing his senior season at American International College in the spring. Last year, the 6' 1", 185-pound Smithtown, New York, native scored once and added five assists in 28 games while helping AIC to its best season in 14 years.

Over 99 career games as a Yellow Jacket, Grasso scored six goals and totaled 20 points. Grasso was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team after both his sophomore and junior seasons.

Before moving into the college ranks, Grasso played four years of junior hockey for six teams (Waterloo Black Hawks, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Ohio Junior Blue Jackets, Alpena IceDiggers, Jersey Hitmen and New York Apple Core) in three leagues (United States Hockey League, Eastern Junior Hockey League and North American Hockey League).
