Last Game

Chris Francis and Michael Parks provided a goal and an assist apiece and Sam Warning piled up three assists as the Mallards ripped off four straight second period goals on the way to a 6-2 win over the host Fort Wayne Komets Saturday night.

Streak

The Mallards won three straight games in a four-night span last week. The Mallards defeated the Cyclones 4-2 in Cincinnati last Wednesday and edged the Indy Fuel 4-3 in a shootout on home ice last Friday before scoring last Saturday's convincing victory.

Reversal

The Mallards have won three in a row after losing their prior three games.

Fantastic Four?

The Mallards are one game shy of matching their longest winning streak of the season. They won four straight games between October 21 and October 29.

Central

With last Saturday's win, the Mallards overtook the Komets for third place in the Central Division.

Opener

Today's game is the first of two in two days for the Mallards in Brampton. The Mallards and Beast will wrap up their two-game set with a more conventional evening contest.

Wake-up Call

Today's tilt is the Mallards' second morning game in three seasons in Brampton. The Beast won 5-2 when the two clubs faced off on the morning of February 23, 2015.

Three-in-Three

This week the Mallards play three games in three days for the second time this season. A visit to Toledo Saturday night will follow tomorrow evening's rematch with the Beast. The Mallards will play three games in three nights seven times this season.

Busy

Last Saturday's game was the Mallards' sixth in nine nights. They went 3-3-0 during that stretch.

Six Shooter

The Mallards set team season highs last Saturday in Fort Wayne by scoring a total of six times and by ripping off four goals in the second period alone. In fact, the Mallards scored four times in ten minutes and 39 seconds in the second period of that contest after not scoring more than four goals in any full game before last Saturday night.

Komets

The Mallards last Saturday turned the tables with a resounding victory over the Komets after dropping their first three games this season against Fort Wayne and being outscored 14-4 in the process.

Comeback

The Mallards came from behind to win each of their last two games after coming back to win just once in their first 15 games. The Mallards overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits before defeating Indy in a shootout last Friday night and bounced back emphatically after giving up the first goal last Saturday night in Fort Wayne.

On the Road

The Mallards kicked off a stretch of four straight away games by winning in Fort Wayne last Saturday. That game also started a run that will see the Mallards play seven of eight games on the road. The Mallards won back-to-back away games last week and now boast a better record on the road (6-3-0) than at home (4-3-1).

Home Sweet Home

With last Friday's shootout win over Indy at the iWireless Center, the Mallards rebounded after dropping their prior two home games and moved back over .500 on home ice for the season.

Red Light District

The Mallards have scored at least four goals in each of their last three games. They rank twentieth in the ECHL in goals per game (2.8).

Stingy

The Mallards rank third in the ECHL in goals against (2.6 per game). The Mallards have given up three goals or fewer in 14 of their first 17 games and have held foes to two goals or fewer nine times .

Warning Sign

Warning was named ECHL Player of the Week after piling up six points (three goals and assists) in the Mallards' three wins last week. Warning is on a four-game point-scoring streak (4-3-7) and has moved into a tie with Justin Kovacs for the team lead in points (17) and plus/minus rating (+6). Warning also leads the Mallards in goals (8). By picking up three assists last Saturday in Fort Wayne, Warning matched team season highs and personal career highs for points in one game and assists in one game.

Nickel

Chris Francis recorded five points (two goals and three assists) in the Mallards' three wins last week.

Parks and Wreck

Michael Parks has scored four times and totaled six points in his last six games.

Between the Pipes

Motte is tied for second in the ECHL in save percentage (.939), ranks fourth in goals against average (2.03) and is tied for eighth in wins (7). Motte has won seven of his last eight starts.

Old Friend

Brandon Marino, who won the Central Hockey League Most Valuable Player award while playing for the Mallards in 2011-12, is now in his second season with the Beast.

Special Teams

The Mallards' penalty kill ranks tenth (85.7 percent) in the ECHL, just ahead of their power play, which is ranked eleventh (18.8 percent) .

Head-to-Head

This week's games are the only two meetings between the Mallards and Beast this season. The two clubs- who did not play each other last season- last collided on April 1, 2015 when Brampton won 6-5 in Moline. The Mallards went 7-5-3 overall and 3-1-3 on the road against the Beast in 2014-15. That season was the first ECHL campaign for both clubs. All-time, between the ECHL and the Central Hockey League, the Mallards have gone 14-8-6 against the Beast overall and 8-2-4 in Brampton.

Ins and Outs

Defenseman Dylan Labbe has missed the Mallards' last two games (lower body injury)...Defenseman Donnie Harris has missed the Mallards' last three games after being placed on 21-day injured reserve retroactive to November 20 (upper body injury).
