Madison, WI - February 6, 2012. The Madison Mallards will host their annual First Pitch event on Thursday, February 9th at 6:00 pm at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center.
At this event the Mallards will continue their off-season announcements by unveiling a special event for the 2012 season as well as more details on several ballpark improvements at the "Duck Pond." A first look of the promotional schedule for the season will also be announced.
Major ballpark renovations at the "Duck Pond" are planned for the 2012 season. Pending approval from the City of Madison the Meriter and Physicians Plus Backyard, two Home Plate Suites, and a brand new Great Dane Duck Blind Club will all be added to the "Duck Pond." More details about each of these improvements will be unveiled at Thursday nights event.
Speakers at the event will include City of Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, City of Madison Parks Superintendent Kevin Briski, and Mallards Owner Steve Schmitt. A question and answer session about the 2012 Mallards and ballpark improvements will follow the announcements.
This family friendly event will include ballpark food and soda and will be open to the public, free of charge. Mallards Mascot Maynard G. Mallard will be in attendance as well as plenty of kids activities.
The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.
