Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (March 1, 2015) - Jack Downing and Josh Brittain scored in the shootout after Landon Oslanski provided a goal and an assist in regulation and Josh Robinson made 33 saves over 65 minutes before blanking four Quad City Mallards in the shootout as the Missouri Mavericks (21-28-5) edged the host Mallards (28-21-7) 3-2 Sunday . The Mallards did earn one point for the shootout setback to open up a five point lead in the race for second place in the ECHL's Central Division.
The shootout proved necessary after the Mavericks twice came from behind to tie the game in regulation with power play goals. Oslanski's one timer from the top of the left wing circle knotted the score at one at 6:50 of the second period. The Mallards got a power play goal of their own when Pearce Evistion buried a rebound at the 10:18 mark of the second, but just a minute and 57 seconds later Sebastien Thinel would even the score again for the Mavs from the side of the net.
The Mallards had first moved in front when Logan Nelson ripped the puck home from the left wing circle at 16:16 of the first period.
The Mallards next play at home Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Fans can purchase four tickets to each Mallards Wednesday home game this season for just $20. In addition, after Wednesday's game, fans can join the Mallards at T.G.I. Friday's on River Drive in Moline- adjacent to the iWireless Center- for a postgame party.
